Purex Catalina at Fred Meyer

I read about this deal yesterday on Slick Deals.  At Fred Meyer, they have a catalina running right now on 50 oz Purex laundry detergent.  Here are the details:

Buy Purex 50 oz laundry detergent between 1/11 & 3/7
Buy 2 & get a $4 catalina good on your next shopping order
Buy 3 or more & get a $5 catalina good on your next shopping order

Click here to find out what a catalina is.

This week at Fred Meyer, they have an in-store coupon making the 50 oz Purex $1.99 (limit 2).  There is also a manufacturer's coupon from the 1/10 Red Plum insert for $.35 off 1.

When a catalina prints, a lot of times it is also printing at the other major grocery chains that use catalina machines.  Also, make sure that you purchase the 50 oz.

The Purex is flying off the shelves at Fred Meyer, so if they are out, go to Customer Service and ask for a rain check.  The catalina prints through March 7th, so there is plenty of time to get it later.

Arrowhead Water Catalina at Albertsons

Arrowhead brand Spring Water 24 packs have a catalina currently running through Sunday, Feb. 7th.

Buy 2 get a $2 catalina to spend on your next shopping order
Buy 3 get a $3 catalina to spend on your next shopping order
Buy 4 get a $5 catalina to spend on your next shopping order

Here's a scenario:
Buy two Arrowhead Water 24 packs $3.49 each
use $1 off 2 Arrowhead water 24 packs manufacturer's coupon from the back of the Albertsons ad
Price $2.99 each, Total $5.98

Then get a $2 catalina to spend on your next shopping order
Final price after catalina $3.98 or $1.99 each

Update:  I went to Albertsons last night to try out the catalina, and it did indeed print.  However, I have a better scenario than posted before, because Albertsons will let you use more than one of the Arrowhead coupons at a time.

Buy 4 Arrowhead 24 packs $3.49 each
Use two, $1 off 2 Arrowhead water 24 packs manufacturer's coupon from the back of the Albertsons ad (extra ads available at the store)
Price $2.99 each, Total $11.96

Then get back a $5 catalina
Total after catalina $6.96 or $1.75 each!!!

You can also use 2 coupons from coupons.com for Buy 2 Arrowhead 24 packs, get one 6 pack free.  That makes four, 24 packs of water and two, 6 packs for $6.96.  What a bargain! (This is a YMMV situation.  My Albertsons will take the manufacturer's coupons for the free 6 pack along with the $1 off 2 manufacturer's coupons, but not all of them will.)

Remember, this catalina only prints through Sunday, February 7th.

This catalina is also printing at Fred Meyer and Smiths.

Couponing #7- What is a Catalina?

A catalina is a coupon that prints out at the register.  It gets its name from the company that runs the little coupon printers that are at the registers, called Catalina.  Coupons sometimes print from these machines are for a dollar amount off a certain product, but other times they print for dollar amounts off your next order.    Albertsons, Fred Meyer, and Walgreens (they call their coupons register rewards instead of catalinas) all have catalina machines in their stores.

Catalinas usually expire 2 weeks after being issued.  So, when buying products in a promotion that uses catalinas, you have to make sure that you will shop at the store again in the next 2 weeks to make the deal worth it.

With the current Procter & Gamble promotion and other Albertsons catalina promotions, if you do multiple $25 transactions (Albertsons will usually let you do 3 transactions in a row), you can use the catalina from the 1st transaction to pay for the 2nd transaction and the catalina from the 2nd transaction to pay for the 3rd transaction.  Then you will have another $10 catalina from the 3rd transaction to spend in the future.

Leave a comment if you have any questions.  I know this can be confusing.
